Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Supervisor of Subway Car Repairs to lead our dedicated team of mechanics and technicians. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our subway car fleet, playing a key part in maintaining the operational integrity of our transit system.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily repair operations for subway cars, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
- Develop and implement effective maintenance schedules and repair strategies to maximize fleet availability and performance
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, promoting continuous improvement in repair processes and team capabilities
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of repair work to identify areas for enhancement and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot complex issues and implement solutions
- Manage inventory levels for parts and supplies, ensuring timely availability to support repair operations
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in vehicle maintenance or repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of subway car systems, including propulsion, braking, and control systems
- Proven ability to manage teams effectively and lead through change
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure
Preferred:
- Experience with transit systems, particularly in urban environments
- Familiarity with industry regulations and safety standards
- Certification in mechanical or electrical systems related to rail vehicles
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in diagnostic tools and technologies for vehicle repair and maintenance
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in subway cars
