Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Supervisor of Rail Car Maintenance to oversee and enhance maintenance operations within our rail yard. In this role, you will ensure that all rail cars are maintained to the highest safety and operational standards while leading a skilled team of technicians and mechanics. Your expertise will be pivotal in implementing best practices and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day rail car maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion of repairs and inspections
- Lead and mentor a team of maintenance personnel, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance schedules and procedures to optimize operational efficiency
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies
- Coordinate with other departments to address and resolve maintenance-related issues effectively
- Maintain documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders and inspection reports
- Analyze data to identify trends and implement corrective actions to enhance maintenance processes
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in rail car maintenance or a related field
- Proven leadership experience in managing maintenance teams and operations
- Strong knowledge of rail car systems, components, and maintenance best practices
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and compliance standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced maintenance management systems
- Certification in rail car maintenance or related technical qualifications
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools
- Experience with diagnostic and inspection tools for rail car systems
- Knowledge of quality control processes in maintenance operations
