Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal Stratigrapher to lead our geological assessment initiatives and provide expert insights into sedimentary processes and stratigraphic frameworks. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive experience to mentor junior geoscientists, drive research projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance our understanding of subsurface geology.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of stratigraphic analysis methodologies to support exploration and production activities
- Conduct comprehensive geological assessments and create detailed stratigraphic models that inform decision-making
- Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate stratigraphic data into exploration strategies
- Mentor and guide junior staff in geological principles, stratigraphy, and data interpretation techniques
- Publish and present research findings to both internal teams and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices in geological assessments
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- PhD in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field with a focus on stratigraphy
- 10+ years of experience in geological mapping, stratigraphic analysis, and subsurface interpretation
- Proven track record of successful project leadership and collaboration in a multidisciplinary environment
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in geological software and modeling tools
Preferred:
- Experience in petroleum geology or resource exploration sectors
- Published research in peer-reviewed journals related to stratigraphy or sedimentology
- Familiarity with geospatial analysis tools and data management systems
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in geological modeling software such as Petrel, GOCAD, or equivalent
- Proficient in data visualization and interpretation tools
- Strong understanding of geophysical techniques and their application in stratigraphy
- Experience with geostatistics and subsurface data integration
