Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Sterile Processing Director to lead our sterile processing department at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the sterile processing department, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize workflow and ensure the highest level of patient safety
- Lead the team in sterilization processes, equipment management, and inventory control, ensuring timely availability of sterile instruments
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal protocols
- Collaborate with surgical services, infection control, and quality assurance teams to enhance operational efficiency and patient outcomes
- Provide training and mentorship to staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
- Analyze performance metrics and implement strategies to improve departmental performance and service delivery
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in sterile processing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- In-depth knowledge of sterile processing techniques, regulations, and best practices
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
Preferred:
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT or CRCST)
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement
- Master’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in sterile processing equipment and technologies, including sterilizers, cleaning systems, and tracking software
- Experience with data analysis and performance improvement tools
- Familiarity with regulatory standards such as AAMI, CDC, and OSHA
