Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Specimen Processing Supervisor to oversee our specimen processing operations. In this pivotal role, you will ensure that our laboratory maintains the highest standards of quality and efficiency in the processing of biological specimens. You will lead a dedicated team, implementing best practices and technological advancements that enhance operational productivity and safeguard patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the specimen processing laboratory, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and internal protocols.
- Develop and implement workflows and processes that optimize specimen processing efficiency while maintaining the integrity and quality of samples.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate laboratory staff to ensure a high level of performance and adherence to established protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance and laboratory management, to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
- Oversee the maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring timely calibration and servicing to uphold operational standards.
- Analyze operational data and metrics to identify trends and develop strategies for continuous improvement in specimen processing.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory, with a focus on specimen processing.
- Proven leadership skills with experience supervising laboratory staff.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory safety standards and regulatory compliance.
Preferred:
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent.
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and automation technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- In-depth understanding of laboratory processes, including specimen collection, handling, and processing.
- Proficient in data analysis tools and laboratory management software.
