Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished and innovative scholar to fill the position of Endowed Chair in Sociocultural Anthropology. This role is pivotal for shaping the research agenda and academic excellence within our department, focusing on critical contemporary issues through the lens of sociocultural anthropology. You will engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, mentor emerging scholars, and contribute significantly to our educational mission.
Responsibilities
- Lead a research agenda that advances knowledge in sociocultural anthropology while addressing pressing global challenges.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Supervise graduate student research, providing mentorship and guidance in their academic and professional development.
- Contribute to departmental governance and strategic planning, ensuring alignment with the broader institutional goals.
- Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals and participate in academic conferences to disseminate research findings.
- Engage with community partners and stakeholders to apply anthropological insights in real-world contexts.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Anthropology or a closely related field.
- A strong record of scholarly publication and research funding.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level.
- Experience in mentoring graduate students and junior faculty.
