Role Overview
We are seeking an accomplished and visionary academic leader to fill the position of Endowed Chair in Social Work. This role is vital in advancing research, education, and community engagement in social work, fostering innovation in the field, and preparing the next generation of practitioners to address complex social issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the social work department, enhancing academic programs and fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and research.
- Develop and lead innovative research initiatives that address pressing social issues, securing funding and partnerships to support these endeavors.
- Engage with community stakeholders, non-profit organizations, and government agencies to enhance the department's impact and outreach.
- Teach graduate-level courses and mentor students, guiding them in their academic and professional development.
- Publish influential research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at key conferences to establish the department's thought leadership.
- Collaborate with other departments and institutions to promote interdisciplinary approaches to social work education and research.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field with a strong record of scholarly achievement and research.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic setting, including program development, faculty supervision, and student mentorship.
- Extensive experience in securing research funding and managing large-scale research projects.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in social work education and practice.
Preferred:
- Experience in community-based research and partnerships that address social justice and public policy.
- Established network within the social work community and related fields.
- Strong publication record in leading social work journals and a history of impactful conference presentations.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R) and qualitative data analysis tools (e.g., NVivo).
- Proficiency in using learning management systems and online teaching platforms to deliver high-quality educational experiences.
