Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Director of Forestry Services to lead our forestry initiatives, driving innovative strategies to enhance sustainable forest management practices. This pivotal role will involve overseeing a diverse team of forestry professionals while collaborating with stakeholders to implement effective policies that promote environmental stewardship and economic viability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for forestry services that align with organizational goals and sustainability objectives
- Lead and mentor a team of forestry specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
- Establish partnerships with governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and community stakeholders to advance forestry programs
- Conduct research and analysis on forestry trends, regulations, and best practices to inform policy development
- Direct the management of forest resources, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable practices
- Oversee budget planning and resource allocation for forestry projects
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired results
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in forestry management or related services, with a demonstrated track record of leadership
- Comprehensive knowledge of forestry regulations, environmental policies, and sustainable practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data
Preferred:
- PhD in Forestry or Environmental Management
- Experience managing large-scale forestry projects or programs
- Proven ability to secure funding through grants or partnerships
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS) and forest management software
- Experience with data analysis tools and environmental impact assessments
