Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and passionate Director of School Social Work to lead our team in delivering comprehensive social work services that enhance the emotional and social well-being of students. This role will have a significant impact on the development and implementation of programs that support student success, mental health, and community engagement within our educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of social work services across the school district, ensuring alignment with best practices and educational policies.
- Lead and mentor a team of school social workers, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with school administrators, educators, and mental health professionals to create a supportive environment for students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Develop and implement intervention strategies and programs that address the unique needs of students and promote positive school culture.
- Utilize data-driven approaches to assess program effectiveness and make informed decisions regarding resource allocation and service delivery.
- Advocate for students and families by building partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to address barriers to academic success.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in school social work or related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of social work principles, mental health issues, and educational policies.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective programs and services for diverse student populations.
Preferred:
- Experience with crisis intervention and trauma-informed practices.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to education and social work.
- Proven track record of successful collaboration with school staff, families, and community agencies.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to evaluate program outcomes.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and case management software.
- Understanding of telehealth platforms and virtual service delivery methods.
