Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Coordinator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of special education programs that cater to the diverse needs of our students. Your expertise will drive compliance with federal and state regulations while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and support staff to create tailored strategies that promote the academic and social development of students.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff on best practices in special education, behavior management, and differentiation techniques.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of special education services, using data-driven insights to inform continuous improvement.
- Serve as a liaison between families and school leadership, addressing concerns and facilitating communication regarding students' needs.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and timely, including assessment reports and compliance forms.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid state certification/license in Special Education.
- 3+ years of experience working in special education settings, with a demonstrated track record of supporting students with diverse needs.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations.
Preferred:
- Experience in a leadership or coordinator role within an educational setting.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive learning tools.
- Background in behavior intervention strategies and mental health support.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in data management systems for tracking student progress and compliance.
- Experience with digital tools for creating and managing IEPs.
- Familiarity with educational software and platforms that support differentiated instruction.
