Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Research Administration to lead our research initiatives and administrative operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems that drive research excellence and compliance while fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration across our research teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership in the administration of research funding, compliance, and reporting, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the proposal development process, guiding faculty and researchers in the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals.
- Manage the research administration team, promoting professional development and mentorship to enhance team capabilities and performance.
- Develop and implement systems for tracking research activities, funding opportunities, and compliance metrics to support decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish partnerships that enhance research opportunities and funding.
- Monitor changes in regulations and policies related to research administration and communicate necessary adjustments to stakeholders.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public administration, research administration, or related discipline).
- 8+ years of experience in research administration, including leadership roles.
- Proven track record in securing funding and managing complex research projects within a higher education or research institution.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations governing research funding and compliance.
Preferred:
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with electronic research administration systems and tools.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance research productivity and compliance.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in grant writing and familiarity with major funding agencies and their requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and regulations.
- Experience with research administration software and systems for managing grants and contracts.
