Role Overview
We are seeking an innovative and strategic leader to serve as the Chair of the Nursing Department. This role is crucial in advancing our mission to provide exceptional nursing education and fostering a culture of academic excellence, research, and community service. The ideal candidate will be responsible for shaping the direction of the nursing program while enhancing student engagement and outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Nursing Department in curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation processes
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative environment that encourages faculty development and student success
- Oversee the recruitment, retention, and development of faculty and staff, ensuring a high standard of teaching and learning
- Engage with healthcare partners to establish meaningful clinical placements and community outreach opportunities
- Drive initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the nursing program
- Conduct and support research activities that contribute to nursing knowledge and practice
- Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively to achieve strategic goals
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Doctoral degree in Nursing or a related field
- Current RN licensure and significant clinical experience in nursing
- Demonstrated leadership experience in academic or healthcare settings
- Strong understanding of nursing education standards and accreditation requirements
- Proven track record in curriculum development and program assessment
Preferred:
- Experience working in a fully remote educational environment
- Previous experience as a department chair or equivalent leadership role
- Active involvement in professional nursing organizations
- Published research in nursing or healthcare-related fields
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in learning management systems (LMS) and educational technologies
- Strong analytical skills for program assessment and data-driven decision making
- Familiarity with telehealth technologies and remote teaching methodologies
