Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary and accomplished leader to serve as the Chair of the Nursing Department. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping the academic direction and strategic initiatives of the department, fostering a culture of excellence in nursing education, research, and community engagement. You will collaborate with faculty, staff, and stakeholders to enhance the quality of nursing programs and ensure alignment with industry standards and healthcare needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Nursing Department in developing innovative curriculum and teaching methodologies that meet the evolving needs of healthcare
- Oversee faculty recruitment, development, and performance evaluation to build a diverse and high-performing team
- Facilitate research initiatives and grant applications to advance the department's scholarly contributions and visibility
- Establish and maintain partnerships with healthcare organizations to enhance clinical experiences and student placements
- Advocate for departmental needs and budgetary requirements to university administration
- Engage with students, alumni, and community stakeholders to promote the department and foster a supportive educational environment
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Nursing or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing education, including leadership roles
- Proven track record of academic program development and administration
- Strong understanding of accreditation processes and regulatory standards in nursing education
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion
Preferred:
- Experience in establishing online or hybrid nursing programs
- Active engagement in nursing research with published findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Demonstrated ability to secure funding for research and academic initiatives
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and educational technology to enhance student learning
- Understanding of data analytics for program assessment and improvement
- Familiarity with healthcare informatics and its application in nursing education
