Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and visionary Director of Regional Planning to lead our planning initiatives across multiple regions. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of urban development, regional governance, and community engagement. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to shape and implement comprehensive regional strategies that drive sustainable growth and enhance community well-being.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute regional planning strategies aligned with organizational goals and community needs
- Lead a multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, and execution of regional projects
- Engage with stakeholders, including local governments, community organizations, and residents, to gather input and build consensus
- Conduct comprehensive analyses of regional trends, demographics, and infrastructure needs to inform planning decisions
- Oversee the preparation of reports, presentations, and policy recommendations for senior leadership and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations in all planning activities
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the planning team
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in urban planning, regional development, or a related field
- Proven track record of leading complex planning projects from conception to execution
- Strong knowledge of zoning laws, land use policies, and environmental regulations
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and develop actionable insights
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in public speaking and stakeholder engagement
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or a related field
- Experience working with public agencies and private developers
- Proficiency in GIS software and other planning-related tools
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep understanding of urban design principles and regional planning methodologies
- Proficient in GIS applications, data visualization tools, and project management software
- Experience with stakeholder engagement platforms and public outreach strategies
