Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Rangelands Conservation Laborer to join our team focused on preserving and restoring rangeland ecosystems. In this role, you will actively participate in field-based conservation projects, implementing practices that promote sustainability and biodiversity within rangelands.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of rangeland management practices, including vegetation monitoring, soil sampling, and habitat restoration
- Conduct field surveys to assess the health and productivity of rangeland ecosystems
- Support the planning and execution of conservation activities, such as invasive species control and native plant restoration
- Maintain accurate records of field data, observations, and project progress
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project execution
- Participate in training and educational programs to enhance skills and knowledge in rangeland conservation
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated interest in environmental conservation, ecology, or a related field
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
Preferred:
- Experience in fieldwork related to conservation or natural resource management
- Familiarity with rangeland ecosystems and ecological restoration techniques
- Basic knowledge of plant identification and ecological monitoring methods
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using GPS devices and mapping software for data collection
- Experience with tools and equipment used in rangeland management, such as chainsaws, hand tools, and herbicide application equipment
- Ability to utilize data management software for tracking and reporting
