Role Overview
We are seeking an innovative and dedicated academic leader to serve as the Endowed Chair in Race Relations. This position is critical in advancing scholarly inquiry, fostering community engagement, and developing educational programs that address the complexities of race relations in contemporary society. The successful candidate will bring a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to social justice.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate research initiatives that examine the historical and contemporary dynamics of race relations across various contexts.
- Educate and mentor students and scholars on critical race theory, intersectionality, and related frameworks.
- Develop and implement community outreach programs that promote dialogue and understanding about race and equity.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to integrate race relations into the broader curriculum.
- Publish research findings in leading academic journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Secure funding opportunities to support research and community initiatives.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Sociology, Ethnic Studies, Race Relations, or a related field.
- Demonstrated record of scholarly research and publications in race relations or related areas.
- Experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Proven ability to engage with diverse communities and foster inclusive environments.
Preferred:
- Experience in securing research grants and leading funded projects.
- Track record of interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement.
- Strong leadership and administrative skills.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
- Experience with data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, NVivo, R).
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and educational technology.
