Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished scholar to fill the position of Endowed Chair in Black Studies. This role is central to advancing research, teaching, and community engagement in Black Studies, contributing to the academic rigor and diversity of our institution. Responsibilities
- Lead and develop innovative research that advances the field of Black Studies and addresses contemporary issues within the community.

- Engage actively with students, providing mentorship and guidance in academic and professional development.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to enhance the curriculum and promote interdisciplinary initiatives.
- Organize and participate in community outreach programs that strengthen ties between the university and local communities.
- Contribute to the development of departmental goals and strategies, ensuring alignment with the university’s mission for diversity and inclusion.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Black Studies or a closely related field, with a strong record of scholarly publication.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level.
- Proven ability to secure research funding and manage research projects.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within academic and community environments.
Preferred:
- Experience in curriculum development and program leadership.
- Active engagement with local and national communities on issues relevant to Black Studies.
- Record of interdisciplinary collaboration and leadership in academic settings.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
