Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Pulmonary Function Laboratory Manager to lead our state-of-the-art pulmonary laboratory. In this critical role, you will oversee all aspects of laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, while providing high-quality diagnostic services to our patients. Your expertise in pulmonary function testing and team leadership will be essential in delivering exceptional care.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the pulmonary function laboratory, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and accreditation standards, including CLIA and CAP
- Oversee the training and development of laboratory staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
- Implement and maintain quality control protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to optimize patient care and coordinate diagnostic services
- Monitor laboratory performance metrics and implement strategies for operational efficiency
- Lead the procurement and maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring adherence to safety standards
- Stay current with advancements in pulmonary diagnostics and integrate new technologies as appropriate
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Respiratory Therapy, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in a pulmonary function laboratory, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Strong understanding of pulmonary function testing methodologies and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with laboratory regulations and standards
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Certification as a Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) or equivalent
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in pulmonary function testing equipment including spirometers, plethysmographs, and gas analyzers
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and quality control methodologies
