Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Public Health Veterinary Services to lead our efforts in safeguarding animal and public health. This strategic role requires a deep understanding of veterinary public health principles, regulatory frameworks, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams to implement effective public health initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute public health veterinary strategies that align with organizational goals and public health priorities
- Lead and mentor a team of veterinary professionals, ensuring high standards of service delivery and professional development
- Collaborate with public health officials, government agencies, and community stakeholders to promote animal health initiatives and disease prevention strategies
- Oversee surveillance programs for zoonotic diseases and implement response plans for outbreaks
- Conduct research and analysis to inform policy development and public health interventions in veterinary services
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure the sustainability of public health programs
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) or equivalent degree
- 10+ years of experience in veterinary medicine, with a focus on public health
- Strong knowledge of zoonotic diseases, epidemiology, and veterinary regulations
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in public health (MPH) or related field
- Experience working with government agencies and public health organizations
- Track record of successful program development and implementation
- Publications or presentations in veterinary public health or related topics
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in veterinary epidemiology and surveillance methodologies
