Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Health Inspector to lead our health inspection team and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing health inspection programs that promote public health and safety, while also providing guidance and leadership to a dedicated team of inspectors.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the health inspection team, ensuring effective execution of inspection protocols and compliance with all health regulations.
- Develop and implement comprehensive health inspection programs that address community health needs and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct complex investigations and inspections of facilities to assess compliance with health regulations, including food safety, sanitation, and environmental health.
- Collaborate with local agencies and stakeholders to promote public health initiatives and respond to health-related emergencies.
- Provide training and mentorship to health inspectors to enhance their skills and ensure adherence to best practices in health inspection.
- Prepare detailed reports and present findings to government officials and community stakeholders.
- Stay informed of current trends and changes in health regulations and policies, continuously adapting inspection practices accordingly.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in health inspection or environmental health, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal health regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions based on inspection findings.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Public Health or a related field.
- Certification as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with diverse communities and understanding their unique health challenges.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in data management systems and health inspection software.
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis and reporting methodologies related to health data.
- Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) for health mapping and analysis.
