Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Public Health Sanitarian Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be pivotal in ensuring public health standards are met and maintained across various environments. You will lead sanitation initiatives, conduct inspections, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to promote community health and safety.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of sanitation technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure compliance with public health regulations.
- Conduct thorough inspections of facilities, including restaurants, public pools, and housing developments, assessing compliance with health codes and regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings, recommending corrective actions and following up to ensure compliance.
- Develop and implement training programs for staff on sanitation practices and public health standards.
- Collaborate with local health departments and community organizations to address public health concerns and promote sanitation initiatives.
- Stay current with state and federal public health regulations, applying them to ensure optimal sanitation practices.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in public health sanitation or a related field, with a proven track record of leadership.
- Strong knowledge of public health laws, regulations, and sanitation standards.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and recommend appropriate actions.
Preferred:
- Certification as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) or equivalent.
- Experience in conducting training or educational programs related to public health.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and public health software.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Experience with environmental health monitoring tools and software.
- Ability to utilize data management systems to track inspection and compliance data.
