Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Investigator in Protozoology to lead groundbreaking research initiatives that explore the biology and ecology of protozoan organisms. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for designing and executing innovative research projects while guiding a team of scientists and collaborating with cross-functional departments to drive scientific discovery and advancement in the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage research projects focused on protozoan biology, ecology, and their implications in various ecosystems.
- Develop and implement experimental designs, methodologies, and protocols for studying protozoan behavior and physiology.
- Oversee the analysis and interpretation of complex data sets, ensuring accuracy and scientific rigor in all findings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate protozoological research into broader biological and environmental contexts.
- Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals and present results at national and international conferences.
- Mentor and train junior researchers and students, fostering a culture of curiosity and scientific integrity within the team.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- PhD in Protozoology, Microbiology, or a closely related field with a strong focus on protozoan research.
- 10+ years of experience in academic or industry research, with a proven track record of leading independent research projects.
- Extensive knowledge of protozoan biology, including taxonomy, physiology, and ecological interactions.
- Experience with advanced data analysis techniques and statistical software.
- Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals.
Preferred:
- Experience with grant writing and securing funding for research initiatives.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics tools.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with external partners and stakeholders in research projects.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in microscopy, including confocal and electron microscopy techniques.
- Familiarity with molecular techniques such as PCR, sequencing, and genetic manipulation.
- Proficient in statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS) and data visualization tools.
