Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Proposal Director to lead our proposal development efforts, ensuring that our submissions are compelling, compliant, and competitive. This role will be pivotal in shaping our approach to proposal management, enhancing our win rates, and driving business growth through effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the end-to-end proposal development process, including planning, writing, editing, and final submission
- Collaborate with business development, technical teams, and subject matter experts to gather information and develop high-quality proposals
- Establish and maintain proposal best practices, templates, and processes to streamline proposal development
- Review and analyze requests for proposals (RFPs) to ensure alignment with company capabilities and strategic objectives
- Develop win strategies and competitive assessments to inform proposal positioning and messaging
- Conduct post-submission debriefs and analysis to continually improve proposal quality and effectiveness
- Mentor and train junior proposal team members, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in proposal management or business development, preferably in a leadership role
- Proven track record of successfully leading complex proposals in competitive environments
- Strong understanding of federal and/or commercial procurement processes
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly
- Experience with proposal management software and tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a specific industry related to our business (e.g., technology, healthcare, engineering)
- Advanced degree in a relevant field
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools
- Certification in proposal management (e.g., APMP or similar)
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and PowerPoint
- Experience with proposal management software (e.g., Qvidian, Proposal Software)
- Ability to analyze data and metrics to drive decision-making
