Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Professor of Piano Performance and Pedagogy to join our esteemed music faculty. This role focuses on developing the next generation of pianists, emphasizing both performance excellence and innovative teaching methodologies. The successful candidate will foster a rich, collaborative environment that encourages artistic growth and pedagogical development.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in piano performance and pedagogy, focusing on both traditional and contemporary approaches.
- Mentor and guide students in their artistic and professional development, providing insights into performance techniques and pedagogical strategies.
- Develop and implement curriculum that reflects current practices in piano performance and pedagogy.
- Conduct research in the field of music education and performance, contributing to scholarly discourse through publications and presentations.
- Participate in departmental and university service, including advising students and serving on committees.
- Organize and participate in masterclasses, recitals, and workshops to enhance student learning experiences.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Doctorate in Piano Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
- Extensive performance experience with a strong portfolio of solo and collaborative work.
- Demonstrated teaching experience at the collegiate level, with a focus on piano performance and pedagogy.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in music education.
Preferred:
- Experience in online or hybrid teaching environments, utilizing technology to enhance student engagement.
- Active involvement in professional music organizations and networks.
- Record of scholarly publications or presentations in the field of music education.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
