Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished and passionate Endowed Chair in Piano Performance and Pedagogy to join our esteemed music faculty. This role is dedicated to elevating the standard of piano performance and education within our institution, fostering both artistic excellence and pedagogical innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive piano curriculum that emphasizes both performance and teaching methodologies
- Mentor and guide students in their artistic and academic pursuits, fostering a supportive and inspiring learning environment
- Conduct masterclasses and workshops to enhance student skills and promote diverse interpretations of piano repertoire
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to integrate interdisciplinary approaches into piano pedagogy
- Engage in scholarly research and creative activities that contribute to the field of piano performance and education
- Participate in departmental and institutional activities, including recruitment and community outreach
- Establish partnerships with local, national, and international music organizations to promote performance opportunities and educational initiatives
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Terminal degree in Piano Performance, Music Education, or a closely related field
- Significant professional experience as a concert pianist and/or educator
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentorship
- Proven record of scholarly contributions to the field
Preferred:
- Experience in curriculum development and program administration
- Strong network within the music community, including collaborations with other artists and organizations
- Familiarity with current trends in music education and performance technology
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in various piano performance techniques and pedagogical approaches
- Ability to leverage technology in teaching and performance settings, including digital platforms for remote instruction
- Experience with music software and tools that support performance and composition
