Role Overview
We are seeking an innovative and accomplished Chair of the Piano Department to lead and elevate our esteemed music program. In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee curriculum development, faculty management, and student engagement to foster a rich educational environment that promotes musical excellence and creativity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a progressive curriculum that aligns with industry standards and advances the department’s mission.
- Lead and mentor faculty members, encouraging professional development and collaboration to enhance teaching practices.
- Direct departmental initiatives, including performance opportunities, masterclasses, and guest artist series, to enrich the student experience.
- Facilitate student recruitment efforts and provide guidance on academic and career pathways for aspiring pianists.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively, ensuring sustainability and growth.
- Evaluate student progress and performance, providing constructive feedback and support.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree or higher in Piano Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
- 5+ years of teaching experience at the collegiate level with a strong record of pedagogical innovation.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic or artistic setting.
- Proven performance excellence with a robust portfolio of public performances and recitals.
Preferred:
- Doctorate in Music or related field.
- Experience in curriculum design and educational leadership.
- Strong connections with industry professionals and organizations.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale) and digital audio workstations (e.g., Logic Pro, Pro Tools).
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and technologies to enhance music education delivery.
