Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomy Manager to lead our team of phlebotomists in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest standards of blood collection practices. This role is critical in overseeing operational excellence, team development, and compliance with regulatory standards within our organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily operations of the phlebotomy department, ensuring efficient workflow and timely specimen collection
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures that comply with local, state, and federal regulations
- Conduct regular training sessions for phlebotomists to enhance skills, promote best practices, and ensure adherence to safety protocols
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the phlebotomy team, providing constructive feedback and facilitating professional development
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to streamline processes and enhance patient experience during blood collection
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of blood collection and handling procedures
- Manage inventory and supply chain for phlebotomy supplies to ensure operational efficiency
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in phlebotomy with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (e.g., ASCP, AAPT, or equivalent)
- In-depth knowledge of blood collection techniques, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate a diverse team
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., health sciences, laboratory management)
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and laboratory information systems (LIS)
- Proven track record in improving departmental efficiency and patient satisfaction
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in blood collection techniques and laboratory protocols
- Experience with quality control and assurance measures within laboratory settings
- Familiarity with data tracking and reporting software for performance metrics
