Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Petroleum Engineering to lead our engineering team in the development and execution of innovative strategies for hydrocarbon exploration and production. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of petroleum engineering operations, ensuring the integration of advanced technologies to optimize resource recovery while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust petroleum engineering strategies that align with organizational goals and maximize asset value.
- Lead the engineering team in designing and executing drilling programs, including wellbore construction, completion techniques, and production optimization.
- Oversee reservoir characterization, modeling, and simulation efforts to enhance recovery strategies.
- Collaborate with geoscientists and production teams to ensure seamless integration of subsurface and surface operations.
- Establish and maintain industry-leading practices for safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team, mentoring and developing junior engineers.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in petroleum engineering, with a track record of leadership in complex drilling and production environments.
- Deep understanding of reservoir engineering principles, drilling operations, and production technologies.
- Proven experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic decisions.
Preferred:
- PhD in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
- Experience with advanced technologies such as enhanced oil recovery (EOR), digital oilfield technologies, and data analytics.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in reservoir simulation software and tools such as Eclipse, CMG, and Petrel.
- Familiarity with drilling optimization technologies and production monitoring systems.
- Experience with data analytics tools to drive decision-making and operational efficiency.
