Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and strategic VP of Payroll to lead our payroll department at [$COMPANY_NAME]. This role will be instrumental in shaping payroll policies and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The VP of Payroll will oversee the execution of payroll processing, manage payroll systems, and drive initiatives that improve payroll efficiency and employee satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute payroll strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives and compliance requirements
- Lead the payroll team in processing payroll for a diverse workforce, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Oversee the implementation and optimization of payroll software and systems, ensuring robust data management and reporting capabilities
- Monitor changes in payroll legislation and compliance, proactively adjusting policies and practices as needed
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT departments to streamline payroll processes and enhance employee experience
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities for payroll staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Analyze payroll data to identify trends, insights, and areas for operational improvements
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in payroll management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, compliance, and best practices
- Experience with payroll software systems, such as ADP, Paychex, or similar
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis and reporting
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities
Preferred:
- Experience in a high-growth or startup environment
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or similar certification
- Familiarity with global payroll considerations
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in payroll management software and ERP systems
- Strong knowledge of data security and privacy regulations as they pertain to payroll
- Ability to leverage technology to improve payroll processes and reporting capabilities
