Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Vice President of Payroll to lead our payroll function across the organization. In this pivotal role, you will architect and implement innovative payroll strategies that align with our overall business objectives, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll processing. You will play a critical role in driving transformational changes within our payroll systems and processes, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Lead the payroll department, overseeing the full payroll cycle, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for all employees
- Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and systems that adhere to local, state, and federal regulations
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll data with employee records and financial reporting
- Drive payroll transformation initiatives by leveraging technology to enhance payroll processing accuracy and efficiency
- Monitor payroll metrics and KPIs, providing actionable insights to senior leadership regarding payroll performance and opportunities for improvement
- Manage relationships with external vendors and ensure compliance with all contractual obligations
- Lead and mentor a high-performing payroll team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in payroll management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead payroll transformation projects and implement new technologies
- Proven track record of managing complex payroll systems and processes in a multi-state environment
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
Preferred:
- Experience in a high-growth organization or startup environment
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paychex)
- Professional certification in payroll management (e.g., CPP or FPC)
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep expertise in payroll processing systems and related technologies
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting software
- Experience with automated payroll solutions and integrations
