Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Pathology to lead our pathology department in delivering high-quality diagnostic services and advancing our research initiatives. This strategic role is responsible for overseeing pathology operations, ensuring adherence to best practices, and driving innovation in diagnostic methods and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the pathology department, ensuring optimal performance and service delivery across all diagnostic areas
- Develop and implement departmental strategies that align with organizational goals and enhance overall patient care
- Oversee quality assurance programs and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements
- Foster a collaborative environment, mentoring and developing pathologists and technical staff to enhance their skills and advance their careers
- Drive research initiatives in pathology, including the exploration of novel diagnostic techniques and technologies
- Collaborate closely with clinical teams to integrate pathology services into patient care pathways effectively
- Present research findings at national and international conferences, representing the organization within the pathology community
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- MD or DO degree with board certification in pathology
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in pathology, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Demonstrated expertise in surgical pathology, cytopathology, and laboratory management
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation processes
- Proven track record of managing research projects and securing funding
Preferred:
- Fellowship training in a subspecialty of pathology
- Experience with digital pathology and telepathology technologies
- Published research in reputable journals and active participation in professional societies
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in diagnostic pathology techniques, including histopathology and molecular pathology
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR)
- Experience with advanced imaging techniques and pathology informatics
