Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Orthopedic Technician to oversee and enhance our orthopedic support services. This role is crucial in delivering exceptional patient care through innovative orthopedic solutions, ensuring safety and efficacy in all procedures, while mentoring and leading a team of technicians.
Responsibilities
- Lead the orthopedic technician team in the preparation, application, and maintenance of orthopedic devices and casts, ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations.
- Develop and implement best practices in orthopedic care, including the evaluation and modification of orthopedic devices based on patient needs.
- Conduct training sessions for new and existing staff on orthopedic techniques, equipment usage, and patient interaction protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians to understand patient requirements and assist in the development of customized orthopedic solutions.
- Assess and document patient progress and feedback to inform treatment plans and device adjustments.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as an orthopedic technician (e.g., COT, OT) is required.
- 5+ years of experience in orthopedic technology, including leadership or supervisory roles.
- In-depth knowledge of orthopedic casting and splinting techniques, as well as familiarity with the latest orthopedic technologies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare professionals and educate patients.
Preferred:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and orthopedic-specific software.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in the use of orthopedic tools and equipment, including casting materials and splinting devices.
- Familiarity with imaging technologies (e.g., X-ray, MRI) as it pertains to orthopedic assessments.
- Understanding of ergonomic principles and best practices in patient handling and care.
