Role Overview
We’re looking for a board-certified Senior Occupational Therapist to lead evidence-based interventions across acute, sub-acute, and outpatient caseloads at [$COMPANY_NAME]. You will design and implement occupation-centered treatment plans, mentor junior clinicians, and drive quality-improvement initiatives that advance functional independence for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. This is a high-impact senior role that blends direct patient care, clinical education, and program development while leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as functional electrical stimulation (FES), virtual-reality rehabilitation platforms, and EMR-integrated outcome tracking systems.
Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations—including cognitive, neuromuscular, visual-perceptual, and psychosocial assessments—and establish objective, measurable goals using tools such as the COPM, FIM/FAM, AMPS, and SOMS.
- Architect individualized intervention plans that integrate dynamic splinting, constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT), sensory integration protocols, and ergonomic/home-modification strategies to maximize ADL and IADL performance.
- Lead weekly interdisciplinary rounds, presenting evidence-based recommendations to physiatrists, speech-language pathologists, social workers, and case managers to optimize length-of-stay and discharge outcomes.
- Supervise and mentor Level-I and Level-II fieldwork students, providing structured learning objectives, formative feedback, and summative performance evaluations aligned with ACOTE standards.
- Spearhead continuous-improvement projects (e.g., reducing fall risk scores by 15% within six months) using Lean Six Sigma methodology, PDSA cycles, and EMR data analytics dashboards.
- Oversee accurate CPT coding (97001–97546), billing documentation, and insurance prior-authorizations to ensure 100% compliance with CMS, Medicaid, and private-payer regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to pilot emerging rehab technologies—such as sensor-based biofeedback gloves and AR/VR platforms—and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program.
- Current NBCOT certification and active state licensure in [$COMPANY_LOCATION]; eligibility for multi-state compact license preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of full-time clinical experience across at least two practice settings (acute care, inpatient rehab, outpatient, pediatrics, or mental health).
- Advanced competency in neurological rehabilitation (stroke, TBI, SCI) evidenced by certifications such as NDT, C/NDT, or A-ONE.
- Demonstrated leadership experience—e.g., student coordinator, clinical team lead, or QAPI committee chair—within a hospital or health-system environment.
- Proficiency with EMR platforms (Epic, Cerner, or Meditech) and Microsoft 365 analytics tools; experience with REDCap or SQL for outcomes research a plus.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based practice, including ability to critically appraise RCTs, systematic reviews, and clinical practice guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) or PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences.
- Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) or Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS).
- Experience with pediatric sensory processing disorder interventions and school-based IEP collaboration.
- Published peer-reviewed research or podium presentations at AOTA, WFOT, or state conferences.
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish, ASL, or community-relevant languages).
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Rehabilitation technologies: Bioness H200, SaeboFlex, ArmeoSpring, RT300 FES cycle.
- Outcome measurement software: FOTO, Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes, Epic MyChart PROMs integration.
- 3-D printing and CAD software for custom orthotic fabrication.
- Telehealth platforms: Zoom for Healthcare, Doxy.me, Amwell—ensuring HIPAA-compliant workflows.
- Data visualization tools: Tableau, Power BI, or Python pandas for caseload analytics and dashboard creation.
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Track record of cultivating psychological safety within interdisciplinary teams, promoting open dialogue and shared decision-making.
- Coaching mindset—comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback to foster continuous professional growth among peers and students.
- High adaptability in fast-paced, evidence-driven environments; embraces iterative change and tech-enabled care delivery.
