Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Director of Occupational Safety and Health to lead our safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all regulations. This critical role will involve developing and implementing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization. You will collaborate with various departments to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and ensure the health and well-being of all employees.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs aimed at minimizing workplace hazards and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections; analyze data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead safety training initiatives, ensuring all employees understand safety procedures and protocols.
- Collaborate with senior management to establish safety goals and objectives; report on safety performance metrics and progress.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters; liaise with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of safety through active engagement and communication with employees at all levels.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in occupational safety and health management, with a proven track record of leading safety programs in a complex organization.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret safety data and trends.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Experience in developing safety management systems and conducting incident investigations.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in safety management software and tools for tracking incidents and compliance.
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and workplace safety standards.
- Experience with environmental health and safety (EHS) systems.
