Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal Nuclear Steam Supply System Engineer to join our cutting-edge engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design, analysis, and optimization of nuclear steam supply systems (NSSS), ensuring the highest levels of safety and efficiency in our operations. You will leverage your extensive expertise to drive innovations in steam generation technology and contribute to the advancement of our nuclear energy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering design and optimization of NSSS, including steam generators, turbines, and associated systems, to enhance performance and reliability
- Conduct complex thermal-hydraulic analysis and modeling to support system design and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate NSSS with overall plant systems, ensuring operational synergy and safety
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Participate in safety assessments and contribute to the development of safety analysis reports
- Engage with regulatory bodies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
- Drive research and development initiatives to innovate and improve NSSS technologies
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry, specifically focusing on steam supply systems
- Strong understanding of thermal-hydraulics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer principles
- Proven track record of successful project leadership in complex engineering environments
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to a diverse audience
Preferred:
- PhD in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience with advanced modeling tools and simulations related to NSSS
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards, including ASME and IEEE
- Demonstrated publication record in nuclear engineering or related fields
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep expertise in NSSS design, including steam generators and turbines
- Proficient in engineering software tools such as ANSYS, RELAP5, or similar
- Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and thermal-hydraulic modeling
- Familiarity with control systems and plant instrumentation
