Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Assistant Newscast Director to join our dynamic production team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. You will collaborate closely with the Newscast Director, producers, and technical staff to create engaging and informative newscasts.
Responsibilities
- Assist in directing live and recorded newscasts, ensuring seamless transitions and high-quality production values
- Collaborate with producers to plan and coordinate news segments, graphics, and video elements
- Oversee timing and cue talent for on-air segments, maintaining strict adherence to broadcast schedules
- Manage communication between production staff and on-air talent during live broadcasts
- Help implement and refine production workflows to enhance efficiency and quality
- Participate in post-broadcast reviews to evaluate the overall effectiveness of the newscast and identify areas for improvement
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in live news production or as a director/assistant director
- Strong understanding of newsroom operations and broadcast standards
- Proficient in production software and hardware, including video switching and graphics systems
Preferred:
- Experience with directing multi-camera live broadcasts
- Solid understanding of current events and news reporting
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in broadcast production tools such as ENPS, iNews, or similar newsroom software
- Familiarity with video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer
- Experience with audio and lighting equipment used in live production environments
