Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Chief Naval Architect to lead our naval architecture team in designing innovative, high-performance vessels that push the boundaries of marine engineering. This role will involve strategic oversight of complex projects, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices in the maritime industry.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of advanced naval architecture projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Drive engineering excellence by establishing robust design methodologies, including hydrodynamic analysis, structural integrity assessments, and stability evaluations.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marine engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders, to align project objectives and deliverables.
- Mentor and develop junior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to support strategic decision-making for new vessel designs and modifications.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and regulatory changes within the maritime sector, incorporating them into design processes and project execution.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in naval architecture or marine engineering, with a proven track record in leading complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of marine systems, including propulsion, structural design, and environmental compliance.
- Proficiency in naval architecture software tools such as Rhino, ANSYS, and AutoCAD.
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced materials and sustainable design practices in vessel construction.
- Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Naval Architecture.
- Previous experience in senior leadership roles within a marine engineering firm.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA) for vessel design optimization.
- Strong understanding of ship stability criteria and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL).
- Familiarity with project management software and tools to oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
