Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Motorcycle Police Captain to lead our motorcycle unit, ensuring the safety, security, and effective law enforcement in our community. This role requires an individual with exemplary leadership skills who can manage a team of officers, oversee operations, and implement strategic initiatives to enhance public safety while fostering strong community relations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the motorcycle unit, providing direction, training, and support to officers to ensure high-performance standards.
- Develop and implement operational strategies and policies related to motorcycle enforcement, traffic management, and public safety initiatives.
- Conduct regular evaluations of team performance, providing constructive feedback and mentoring for professional growth.
- Collaborate with local and state law enforcement agencies to coordinate efforts in traffic enforcement and community safety programs.
- Engage with community stakeholders to enhance public relations and disseminate critical information regarding traffic safety and law enforcement initiatives.
- Respond to emergency incidents, serving as a tactical leader and coordinating the deployment of resources effectively.
- Analyze crime statistics and traffic patterns to identify trends and recommend adjustments to operational strategies.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- At least 5 years of law enforcement experience with a focus on motorcycle operations and traffic enforcement.
- Proven leadership experience in a law enforcement environment, preferably in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Extensive knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and law enforcement procedures.
- Experience in community policing and fostering positive relationships with diverse community groups.
Preferred:
- Advanced law enforcement training or certifications related to motorcycle operations, traffic enforcement, or management.
- Experience in developing training programs for new officers in motorcycle operations.
- Familiarity with modern technology used in law enforcement, including body cameras and digital reporting systems.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in operating various motorcycle types used in law enforcement.
- Experience with law enforcement software for report generation and data analysis.
- Ability to utilize communication technologies, including radios and dispatch systems, effectively.
