Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to fill the role of Colonel within the State Highway Police. This pivotal position requires a visionary individual to oversee statewide law enforcement operations, ensuring the safety and security of our highways while fostering a culture of community engagement and proactive policing.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all operational aspects of the State Highway Police, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and policy development.
- Develop and implement comprehensive traffic safety programs to reduce accidents and enhance public safety.
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies to coordinate law enforcement efforts and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Oversee training programs for officers, emphasizing advanced policing techniques, leadership, and community relations.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of law enforcement initiatives through data analysis and performance metrics.
- Act as a representative of the State Highway Police in community meetings and public forums, building trust and transparency with stakeholders.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in law enforcement operations, traffic safety, and community policing.
- Strong understanding of state and federal laws, regulations, and law enforcement best practices.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive organizational change.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working in an executive law enforcement role or similar capacity.
- Certification from a recognized law enforcement leadership program.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in the use of law enforcement data analysis software and modern communication tools.
- Familiarity with traffic management systems and incident reporting technologies.
- Knowledge of emergency response and incident command protocols.
