Role Overview
We are seeking a Chief Mine Surveyor to lead our surveying team and oversee all surveying operations at our mining sites. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate data collection and analysis to support operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards. You'll leverage your expertise to drive innovative surveying techniques and methodologies that enhance our mining practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the surveying team, providing technical guidance and mentorship to ensure high-quality survey data collection and reporting.
- Oversee the implementation of surveying strategies, including the use of advanced technology such as LiDAR, GPS, and GIS for site surveys and mapping.
- Collaborate with engineering, geology, and operations teams to provide accurate and timely survey data that informs decision-making and project planning.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards related to mining survey operations.
- Conduct regular field inspections and audits to assess survey accuracy and adherence to safety protocols.
- Develop and maintain surveying procedures, standards, and best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
- Manage surveying budgets and resources, optimizing costs while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mine surveying, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
- Possession of a relevant degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of mining operations and regulations, with a focus on safety and environmental compliance.
- Expert proficiency in surveying software and technologies, including AutoCAD, Surpac, and other relevant tools.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
Preferred:
- Professional certification or licensure in surveying.
- Experience with drone surveying and 3D modeling techniques.
- Previous experience in managing large-scale mining projects.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in geospatial data analysis and mapping software.
- Experience with surveying equipment, including total stations, levels, and GPS systems.
- Knowledge of geological and geological mapping techniques.
