Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal Mineral Surveyor to lead strategic initiatives in mineral resource assessment and management at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mineral surveying projects from conception through to completion, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations
- Utilize advanced surveying techniques, including GPS and GIS technologies, to assess mineral resources and create detailed maps
- Collaborate with geologists, environmental scientists, and engineers to develop integrated survey strategies that support exploration and operational activities
- Conduct site assessments, data analysis, and reporting to provide actionable insights for project stakeholders
- Mentor and guide junior surveyors, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the surveying team
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies in mineral surveying, and implement best practices across all projects
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Geomatics, Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in mineral surveying or geological mapping, with a proven track record of managing complex projects
- Strong proficiency in using surveying software and technologies, including AutoCAD, Surfer, and ArcGIS
- In-depth knowledge of mineral resource estimation and mining regulations
Preferred:
- Professional certification as a licensed land surveyor or equivalent
- Experience with remote sensing techniques and their application in mineral exploration
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in advanced surveying instruments, including total stations, GNSS receivers, and laser scanners
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools
- Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and sustainability practices in mineral exploration
