Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Microfilm Clerk to join our team in a fully remote capacity. As a Microfilm Clerk, you will play a crucial role in the digitization and archiving of historical documents, ensuring that vital records are preserved and accessible for future generations. Your meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills will be essential in maintaining the integrity of our archival processes.
Responsibilities
- Process and digitize microfilm and microfiche records, ensuring high-quality imaging and accurate data entry.
- Maintain detailed records of digitization processes, including quality control checks and data verification.
- Organize and catalog digitized documents for easy retrieval and access.
- Assist in the development and implementation of archival standards and practices.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline workflows and improve digitization processes.
- Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise during the digitization process.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in library science or archival studies is a plus.
- Experience working with microfilm or digital imaging technologies.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in data entry and familiarity with digital archiving software.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in an archival or library setting.
- Knowledge of metadata standards and best practices for digital preservation.
- Familiarity with document imaging and scanning equipment.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using microfilm readers, scanners, and digital imaging software.
- Ability to utilize software solutions for data management and archival processes.
