Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Captain (Master) to lead our vessel operations, ensuring the safety of crew, passengers, and cargo while adhering to maritime regulations and company policies. As the Captain, you will be responsible for the overall navigation, operation, and management of the ship, fostering an environment of safety and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all operations on board the vessel, maintaining the highest standards of safety and navigation
- Develop and implement operational plans, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and company policies
- Lead and manage the crew, fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement
- Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions, ensuring all crew members are well-prepared for emergency situations
- Monitor weather conditions and navigational hazards, adjusting course and operations as necessary
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation as required by maritime authorities
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Master Mariner license with appropriate endorsements for the type of vessel operated
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Captain or in a senior officer role on similar vessels
- Strong knowledge of navigation, maritime laws, and safety regulations
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage a diverse crew
Preferred:
- Experience with hybrid vessels or innovative propulsion technologies
- Advanced training in maritime safety and emergency response
- Proficiency in maritime software and electronic navigation systems
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in navigation systems and electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS)
- Familiarity with vessel management systems and safety management systems
- Understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability practices within maritime operations
