Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Captain to join our team, responsible for navigating and operating vessels in a range of marine environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, maritime expertise, and a commitment to safety, ensuring that all operations are conducted smoothly and efficiently while fostering a positive work culture.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, ensuring compliance with all maritime regulations and standards
- Lead and manage the crew, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to foster a collaborative and motivated team environment
- Develop and implement operational plans, including navigation, communication, and emergency response strategies
- Conduct regular safety drills and ensure that all safety equipment is operational and compliant with regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all vessel operations, incidents, and maintenance activities
- Coordinate with shore-based operations, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication and operational support
- Monitor weather conditions and make informed decisions regarding navigational routes and safety protocols
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Captain's license with appropriate endorsements for the vessel type
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Captain or in a senior maritime leadership role
- Deep understanding of maritime regulations, navigation, and safety protocols
- Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse crew effectively
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced navigational technologies and systems
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainable practices in maritime operations
- Experience in training and mentoring junior crew members
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in the use of electronic navigational aids (ECDIS, GPS, radar)
- Knowledge of vessel maintenance management systems and safety equipment
- Experience with maritime communication systems and protocols
