Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Medical Librarian to join our innovative team. This role is essential in managing and enhancing our medical library resources, ensuring that healthcare professionals have access to the latest research, clinical information, and educational materials to support evidence-based practice.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the management of library resources, including acquiring, cataloging, and maintaining medical literature and databases.
- Provide reference and research assistance to healthcare professionals and students, ensuring they can effectively locate and utilize medical information.
- Collaborate with the library team to develop educational programs and workshops aimed at promoting information literacy among staff and users.
- Implement and maintain digital tools and platforms to facilitate online access to medical resources.
- Conduct literature searches and assist in systematic reviews to support clinical inquiries and research projects.
- Participate in outreach initiatives to promote library services and resources within the organization.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare information resources.
- Strong research skills and experience with database searching.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with library users.
Preferred:
- Experience in a medical or health sciences library setting.
- Familiarity with systematic review methodologies and tools.
- Proficiency with library management systems and online research databases.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using electronic medical databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, and Cochrane Library.
- Experience with library management software (e.g., Ex Libris Alma, OCLC WorldShare).
- Familiarity with citation management tools (e.g., EndNote, Zotero).
