Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Lead Mechanical Design Drafter to join our innovative engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise to create detailed mechanical drawings and specifications, guiding projects from conception through to completion while ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of drafters and designers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
- Utilize CAD software to develop and modify mechanical designs in accordance with project specifications
- Review and approve design layouts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with engineering standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to resolve design-related issues
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement in design processes
- Prepare and present design documentation to stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of complex concepts
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical drafting and design, with a strong portfolio of completed projects
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications with precision
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach to design challenges
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in leading design teams and managing project timelines
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, ANSI, and ISO
- Knowledge of simulation software and tools for design validation
- Experience in a specific industry (e.g., aerospace, automotive, consumer products) is a plus
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
- Experience with PLM software and version control systems
- Ability to create and manage design documentation, including BOMs and assembly instructions
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools is advantageous
