Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Livestock Procurement Manager to lead our sourcing and procurement strategies for high-quality livestock across diverse markets. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for establishing sustainable supply chains, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations while driving cost efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to secure livestock that meet quality and welfare standards
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that align with our company’s objectives
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with livestock producers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, implementing corrective actions as necessary to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement practices with overall business goals
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to inform sourcing strategies
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in livestock procurement or supply chain management
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing advantageous contracts
- In-depth knowledge of livestock markets, industry regulations, and animal welfare standards
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience working in a fully remote environment with distributed teams
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and procurement software
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in procurement management software and tools
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
- Experience with contract management and supplier relationship management systems
