Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and results-driven Hog Procurement Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will oversee the procurement of hogs, ensuring that we maintain high-quality standards while optimizing costs and supplier relationships. Your expertise will be pivotal in managing the supply chain, negotiating contracts, and analyzing market trends to make informed sourcing decisions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for hog sourcing to achieve cost efficiency and quality standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts that align with our quality and financial objectives.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in hog procurement, ensuring competitive pricing and availability.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including production and quality assurance teams, to align procurement strategies with operational needs.
- Monitor supplier performance, conducting regular reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with contracts and quality expectations.
- Manage inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure a continuous supply of hogs while minimizing waste.
- Prepare and present procurement reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within the agriculture or meat industry.
- Proven track record of successful negotiations and supplier relationship management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and market trends to inform decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with sustainable sourcing practices and animal welfare standards.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
