Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Health Advocacy Coordinator to join our team, focusing on empowering individuals and communities to access essential health resources. In this role, you will utilize your skills to drive initiatives that advocate for health equity, enhance community outreach, and foster relationships with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies to promote health awareness and access to resources within underserved communities.
- Organize and facilitate workshops, events, and outreach programs to educate the community on health issues and available services.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, organizations, and government agencies to identify and address barriers to health access.
- Collect and analyze data to assess community needs and measure the impact of advocacy efforts.
- Maintain and expand partnerships with health organizations, community groups, and advocacy networks.
- Prepare reports and communicate findings to stakeholders to influence policy changes and improve health outcomes.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in health advocacy, community outreach, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of health disparities and the social determinants of health.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Public Health or a related field.
- Experience working with marginalized communities and understanding their unique health needs.
- Proficiency in data analysis and experience with community health assessments.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Familiarity with health advocacy tools and platforms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, data management software, and social media platforms for outreach.
- Experience with project management software to track initiatives and outcomes.
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust within the community.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and advocacy.
