Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interlibrary Loan Services Manager to lead our dynamic team in enhancing resource sharing strategies and providing exceptional library services. This role is pivotal in optimizing interlibrary loan operations, ensuring efficient workflows, and fostering collaborative relationships with other libraries to expand access to information resources for our patrons.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the interlibrary loan department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of requests.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with library staff and external partners to streamline workflows and improve resource sharing practices.
- Monitor and evaluate interlibrary loan statistics and trends to inform strategic decision-making and service improvements.
- Provide training and support to staff on the interlibrary loan system and resource-sharing technologies.
- Engage in outreach initiatives to promote interlibrary loan services and enhance user awareness.
- Manage the budget for interlibrary loan services, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in library services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of interlibrary loan systems and resource-sharing technologies.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting to drive service improvements.
Preferred:
- Experience with ILLiad or similar interlibrary loan management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative partnerships with other libraries.
- Experience in developing training materials and leading workshops.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in library management systems and interlibrary loan software.
- Familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS) and resource-sharing platforms.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools and reporting software.
