Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior Intellectual Property Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will support our organization in protecting its intellectual assets, navigating complex legal landscapes, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will work closely with senior attorneys and cross-functional teams to aid in the development and implementation of IP strategies.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, including conducting prior art searches and drafting claims
- Support trademark registration processes, including conducting searches and preparing applications
- Conduct legal research on various IP-related matters and summarize findings for internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and product teams to identify and protect innovative ideas and products
- Assist in managing IP portfolios and monitoring for potential infringements or violations
- Contribute to the development of internal policies and training related to intellectual property
- Support litigation efforts by gathering evidence and preparing documentation as needed
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the bar in at least one jurisdiction
- Strong understanding of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in intellectual property law, including internships or clerkships
- Experience with IP litigation or transactional work
- Familiarity with technology and innovation sectors
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis or Westlaw
- Familiarity with patent and trademark databases
- Ability to utilize document management systems and legal practice software
